When couples think about their wedding film, they often imagine the big moments: walking down the aisle, the first kiss, the speeches, the first dance. And while those moments are incredibly important, they’re only a small part of the story.

Because here’s the truth, (and you’ve probably heard this one plenty of times) you can’t be everywhere on your wedding day.

While you’re greeting guests, someone is laughing at the bar. While you’re off having portraits taken, your grandparents are sharing a quiet moment together. While you’re caught up in the excitement of it all, your friends are experiencing the day in their own way, and those moments usually go unseen.

That’s where the Guest POV (Point of View) wedding film experience comes in.

What is Guest POV?

Guest POV is exactly what it sounds like.  It is your wedding day captured as it naturally unfolds from the perspective of your guests. Instead of focusing only on posed moments or directing the day, this approach is about quietly observing, blending in, and documenting the atmosphere, interactions, and emotions that happen when no one thinks they’re being filmed.

Think candid laughter during cocktail hour, friends reuniting for the first time in years, the way your guests react when they see you walk down the aisle, or the hugs you didn’t realise happened behind you. These are the moments that often mean the most when you watch your film back, because they’re moments you never knew existed.

How the Guest Camcorder Works

As part of the Guest POV experience, I bring along a camcorder on the wedding day and invite your guests to use it.

There’s no pressure, no expectation, and no rules.

At the start of the day (or when it feels most natural), I’ll give a small group of guests a quick, simple introduction. It’s just enough to show them how to turn it on, how to record, and to reassure them that there’s no “right” way to use it. From there, it’s completely up to them.

Guests can film as little or as much as they want. Some might pick it up for 30 seconds. Others might capture a full conversation, a toast, or a moment that feels important to them.

The camcorder gets passed around organically throughout the day, capturing snippets of your wedding from inside the celebration, not from the sidelines.

This is what makes it so special. These moments aren’t staged or planned. They’re filmed by the people who know you best, in the moments that they find meaningful, funny, or emotional.

Why Couples Love This

One of the most common reactions couples have when watching their Guest POV film is surprise.

Because while you’re busy being pulled in a hundred different directions, your guests are fully immersed, chatting, laughing, reconnecting, and celebrating. The camcorder captures those in-between moments that don’t always make it into a traditional wedding film.

It feels less like watching a production and more like stepping back into the day.

Who is Guest POV Perfect For?

The Guest POV experience is ideal for couples who:

  • Want a relaxed, non-intrusive approach to filming
  • Don’t love posing or performing on camera
  • Care deeply about their guests and shared experiences
  • Want their wedding film to feel emotional and authentic
  • Love the idea of seeing their day through other people’s eyes

If you want to be fully present on your wedding day without worrying about the camera, this experience allows you to do exactly that.

Why I Offer This Experience

As a wedding videographer, and a recent 2024 bride myself, I know how quickly the day passes. You plan for so long, and then suddenly it’s over.

The Guest POV experience exists to preserve the parts of the day you couldn’t possibly take in yourself. It’s about telling the full story, not just what happened, but how it felt for everyone who was there to celebrate with you.

Because your wedding isn’t just about the moments you remember. It’s about the moments you didn’t even know you were missing.

Interested in the Guest POV Experience?

The Guest POV experience is included in all of my wedding videography packages, so every couple I work with gets the chance to see their day through their guests’ eyes. You can explore all of the details over on my wedding packages page.

I always like to say to my couples that what your guests put into the Guest POV film is exactly what you’ll get out of it. I can’t force guests to capture your day, and I wouldn’t want to. It’s entirely up to them how much or how little they choose to film. That freedom is what makes the footage so genuine, personal, and reflective of the people you love most.

If this relaxed, guest-led way of documenting your wedding feels like the right fit, I’d love to chat and hear more about your plans.
